Where is the best location for the water inlet of a water storage container that is 5m high and 1m in diameter? Can I put it below?

For gases with a density lower than that of air, flow occurs from bottom to top; for those with a density higher than air, flow occurs from top to bottom (without considering the compression ratio). 2. For liquids and solids, in general flow occurs from bottom to top, but there are exceptions; for example, in the case of water, it depends on whether it is hot or cold – generally, cold water flows from bottom to top while hot water flows from top to bottom. It depends on the function of the medium water: if it is used for storage, water flow from top to bottom helps ensure complete drainage and reduces the need for pumps or other pressure-applying devices; if it is used for heat exchange, then the water temperature comes into play. It can’t be generalized. It should be determined based on actual usage conditions and the process requirements. If your requirement is just a water storage tank, it needs to have inlet and outlet at the bottom and top; whereas if it is used as an intermediate tank for controlling the flow rate, it can have inlet at the bottom and outlet at the top.
Thank you very much; your explanation was very detailed. I use it mainly for experiments. At first, the container is definitely filled with cold water, but later on the water will be heated and additional water may be added, so I think it’s better to introduce water from the bottom. Also, my container is quite tall, and introducing water from the top could easily cause disturbances to the temperature and pressure sensors inside the container
Water storage tank, used to supply water to other equipment. It must be below; otherwise, it can’t come out completely. The water inlet can be on top or at the bottom, depending on the actual conditions.
