Selection of liquid level gauge for ammonia pressure oil separator

The newly purchased ammonia compressors use York compressors, and vertical oil separators are employed for oil separation. Upon operation, it was found that the glass plate level gauge on site indicated a full liquid level, while the DCS showed 60% level. After heating the gauge with steam through a hose, the liquid level dropped, indicating that there was a defect in the glass plate level gauge; it is suspected that the gaseous ammonia coming into contact with the outside air condensed, resulting in an incorrect level reading. What type of level gauge should generally be used for oil separators?
This post was last edited by ylb913 on 2018-7-10 07:17. It seems appropriate to include a float inside the glass panel; it would be a quartz tube level gauge, with the float’s density lying between that of oil and liquid ammonia.
A magnetic float level gauge is used, with vacuum insulation; for extra safety, an insulating layer can be added on the outside.
