Is ultrasonic re-inspection required for the steel plates used in spherical tanks upon arrival at the factory? Which standard applies?
It seems there is a requirement regarding thickness; please check the standards.
Clause 4.2.8 of GB/T 12337 specifies that ultrasonic testing can be carried out either by the steel mill or by the spherical tank manufacturer, and there is no such thing as retesting.
Then why do some design drawings state that ultrasonic re-inspection is required after the steel plates return to the factory?
Ultrasonic testing of steel plates and the requirement for a re-ultrasonic test are not the same thing. For the former, it is sufficient that the quality certificate indicates that ultrasonic testing has been performed on the steel plates, and that the testing methods and acceptance criteria are met; in such cases, the manufacturer does not need to conduct further testing. If a re-test is required, then regardless of whether the material manufacturer has already carried out ultrasonic testing or not, the container manufacturer must conduct ultrasonic testing on the steel plates again.
Which standard specifies that ultrasonic testing must be conducted as a re-inspection on steel plates upon arrival at the factory? Is this related to the steel plate material?
I have no experience in designing spherical tanks; if there are any relevant regulations, they should be specified in the \"Steel Spherical Storage Tanks\" standard.
The requirements regarding re-inspection of materials are quite scattered. TSG 21 GB150, etc. . . Please share any posts that can summarize this, thanks!
