Our company obtained the qualifications for manufacturing pressure vessels of types D1 and D2 in March 2015; these qualifications were due to expire in March 2019, and we are now preparing to renew them. But so far we have only produced 2 carbon steel pressure vessels of Class II. If we are able to obtain the necessary certifications successfully, the questions are as follows: 1. What are the specific requirements regarding performance? ； 2. Can we produce another stainless steel Class II pressure vessel? 3. Is it necessary to produce Class I pressure vessels? 4. Is it necessary to have work-in-progress during on-site audits? Thank you!
Although current regulations do not specify the number of containers to be manufactured during the renewal period, it is generally required that there be at least 5 units under the internal control of the review team. There are no specific requirements for the number of units in categories I and II; having more units in category II is preferable. It is best if the materials used are stainless steel, as using only one type of material is not ideal.
The equipment under production is necessary; otherwise, what is there to see on site?
Yes, it is definitely necessary to consider the equipment under production (product safety performance), as well as the resource conditions and quality system audits.
In principle, there should be performance data related to Type II containers, but the exact number varies from place to place. It is advisable to use containers made of stainless steel, as this reduces the complications associated with renewing manufacturing licenses, and no restrictions are imposed on the type of material used. There must be work in progress during the inspection; otherwise, what would the inspector have to look at on site?
If only two pressure vessels are produced in a few years, what’s the point of obtaining this certificate? How can a welder’s qualification be maintained on an ongoing basis? (If welding is interrupted for half a year, the welder’s certification becomes invalid.)
