For pipe flanges used with flammable and explosive media, according to \"Answers to Questions\" \"Question 3-28\" in the 09 edition of the \"Code for Solid and Liquid Storage\", necked butt-welded flanges must be used ； According to Appendix B on page 493 of HG/T20580, the flange sealing surface can be either \"flat\" or \"raised and recessed\", while the gasket can be either a \"rubber gasket\" or a \"metal gasket\"” ； According to page 190 of HG/T20592, special-grade studs must be used. How is the flange for equipment that contains flammable and explosive materials selected? What is the basis?

For explosive media, it is sufficient to use flanges with necks; the type of sealing surface can be flat or ribbed – there is no requirement for a specific style. However, for those with a high degree of hazard or above, ribbed or tenon-and-mortise joints must be used.
