I’ve seen a DN500 filter with a mechanism installed on its head; it can be opened with a little force (it’s definitely a mechanical mechanism). It’s said to be a gravity-balancing mechanism. Are there any users who know more about its detailed structure?

In simple terms, a gravity balance mechanism consists of a counterweight that reduces the difficulty of operation; it should be a very simple structure.
We call it a balance weight – a mechanism that makes it easier to open the cover. There are two types of such mechanisms: heavy-duty and spring-type. The heavy-duty type is bulky, while the spring-type is compact and agile. It is imported from Japan, and this component is often found on the manhole covers of Japanese equipment.
