Is it true that the sum of the outlet areas of the steam cylinder connections is greater than the inlet area? What is the approximate range for the ratio between these two values?

It means that the total export area should be roughly equal to the import area, right? There’s no need for it to be multiple times that amount?
A steam distribution cylinder can have multiple outlet pipes, each equipped with a valve for control; these pipes are connected to devices for different purposes, and not all of them are opened at the same time. Generally, the total cross-sectional area of the outlets is much larger than that of the inlet, depending on the process requirements.
First, calculate the total inlet cross-sectional area; the cross-sectional area of the cylinder should be 1.5 to 2 times larger than that of the inlet.

I’ve forgotten the exact title of that book. In the past, our company worked with many boiler factories in the vicinity; hundreds of steam distributors were produced each year, and they were all designed in this way.
Firstly, the maximum opening diameter is required in the equal area method. Apart from the outer diameter series, the common inner diameters for steam cylinder designs include 500, 600, etc. (usually less than or equal to 1000). Under normal circumstances, the maximum opening diameter of the cylinder shell should be less than 0.5 times the inner diameter of the cylinder. I took a brief look at the steam cylinders designed in the past; it’s certain that the exit cross-sectional area is greater than the inlet cross-sectional area, but there’s no pattern to it – the increase in size is often by many times. As stated on page 15 of the 05K232 atlas, the number of nozzles is determined by the engineering design. You can try referring to other explanations.
The cylinder’s cross-sectional area is 1.5–2 times that of the inlet pipe, which means a maximum opening ratio of 0.7; this generally meets the requirements regarding the spacing between openings as specified on page 15. It seems there are no regulations regarding the size of the pipe or the ratio between its inlet and outlet cross-sectional areas
The spacing between the handles is determined based on the size of the valve knob; there should be no collisions or scratches, unless, of course, the knob has been removed.
