The company purchased two pieces of 10mm thick Q345R steel plate, intending to use them for air storage tanks, of Class I or Class II. The material sheet for the steel plate specifies UT testing; the standard is GB/T2970, the testing level is Grade III, and the test results show that each sheet is qualified. I want to know whether this steel plate or material sheet is usable, and what the basis for that is. I checked Table 3 with a value of 150.2, as well as clause 2.2.1.4 of the new capacity regulations – none of them cover this case. There’s also this UT testing issue – some steel mills mention it while others don’t. What’s the reason for that?
Ultrasonic testing of steel plates meets the requirements of Clause 6.6 of GB/T713 standard. Whether steel plates need to be inspected for defects upon leaving the factory is specified by the buyer in the contract. You just need to manufacture the gas storage tank; there’s no problem at all.
Steel plates that have undergone ultrasound testing are better; they can be used for air storage tanks without any problem.
As long as it meets the 713 standard, there’s no problem using it for air storage tanks!

If it is GB713 steel plate, there is no mandatory requirement for raw material inspection under GB713; it only states that the supplier and buyer can decide whether to conduct such an inspection. Perhaps the steel mill included an additional inspection item \"on top of\" what is required
