Dear experts and professionals, I have just started working, and I encountered a problem on site: at the top of the drain tank of the steam boiler, there is a large-diameter discharge opening of about 300 mm, which leads straight to the roof of the boiler and releases steam into the atmosphere. Can a valve be added at the discharge outlet now? Are there any established guidelines that I can use to present to my supervisor? I’m worried about safety accidents; therefore I think it’s not advisable to add anything. In the event of a boiler accident or an emergency, wastewater flows directly into the drain tank. There are valves on that tank but they cannot be opened in time, and the drain tank doesn’t have a safety valve either, so it’s not possible to add anything. Gurus
Valves cannot be added, otherwise it is no longer called a vent.
Personally, I think it shouldn’t be added, because the emergency drains of the steam boiler all feed into the regular drainage system. If the valves can’t be opened in time and there are no safety valves, it could cause the tank to explode from overpressure.
Expert, are there any relevant regulations? I remember my teacher mentioning them when I was in school, but there’s no document that can serve as evidence.
You need to check what’s connected to your custom-made containers. Generally, water is discharged from the series of tanks connected together; these tanks discharge water at a constant rate over time. So how can valves be installed on the discharge outlets of such series of tanks? If your manager gets angry all the time, you can find an energy-saving company to design a project for the recycling and reuse of exhaust gases.
