In practice, 10mm thick Q345R steel plates are rolled and processed to serve as DN500 fittings (OD508x10)
The design isn’t very reasonable; 8mm for the cylinder is fine. 500 holes are too large, leaving too little margin for the cylinder body.
The equal area method isn’t applicable; use the analytical method instead.
