Currently, there is a vertical separator used for natural gas; its design pressure is 9.0 MPA and the diameter is DN800. The design requirement is 100% RT, and UT is required for the fillet welds of nozzles larger than DN80. Now the manufacturer suggests that there is no equipment available for UT inspection of the fillet welds of nozzles in the DN80–200 range; can this requirement be removed? ; Furthermore, it is difficult to conduct RT inspections on the circumferential welds of fittings with a DN50 size or smaller and butt-welded flanges; is it possible to exempt them from such inspections?
No, don’t you check when you finalize the contract? Once it’s taken on, it can’t be done anymore – can the client make that change for you?
Lack of equipment is not an excuse; UT testing is feasible for insert fittings over 3 inches in size. If the manufacturer cannot perform UT testing, then RT testing can be used instead. There’s no problem with the pipe flanges under 2 inches in RT; it’s just that there are too many pieces
Many manufacturing plants do this: they don’t mention it during bidding, but it becomes difficult to address once the order is received.
UT has no equipment inspection; it is outsourced. . RT for small-diameter butt welds is not a problem.
There are no testing devices. Then why don’t you use flanged connections and butt welds? With such high pressure, it’s unreasonable to rely on groove welding in the first place.
I’ve never heard of a situation where work can be done without any equipment; money can’t be saved that way. Hehe, and difficulties aren’t a reason to skip the work.
