Is heat treatment required for carbon steel rigid ring supports thicker than 40?
No need! Take measures to prevent deformation during manufacturing!
A rigid ring is not a compressive member, so it does not require heat treatment
Appropriate preheating should be considered for the joints between the upper and lower ring plates; fillet welding is not necessary.
If the part welded to the cylinder is 40 thick, it should be heat-treated
If the equipment requires overall heat treatment and there is no gasket between the rigid ring support and the equipment cylinder section, then the heat treatment should be carried out after the connection to the equipment is completed. However, if there is a gasket between the rigid ring support and the equipment cylinder section, it might be possible to first connect the gasket to the equipment and then perform the overall heat treatment, followed by installing the rigid ring support afterward. If the equipment does not require heat treatment, then the rigid ring supports should not need to be heat-treated separately, right?
