Can hydrogen pipelines be drilled while under pressure? Find the norm
Should this be standardized? It’s a hydrogen pipeline – there’s flammable gas inside. If you try to make holes in it while it contains hydrogen, won’t that cause the fire to get worse and eventually lead to an explosion?
Looking for death – this one even has pressure-opening holes.
The molecular weight of hydrogen is 2, so it can escape through even the smallest gap. Moreover, making an opening while the system is under pressure requires cutting the pipe, which is very dangerous. Additionally, manufacturers are unwilling to carry out such work under pressure – it’s simply too risky.
Opening under pressure? No welding work can be carried out on hydrogen without pressure. Flaring must be carried out followed by replacement before work can begin
