This post was last edited by kareale88 on 2019-6-22 at 21:51. It deals with tube sheet welding; previous products were heat exchangers using stainless steel tubes and low-alloy steel tube sheets. I have conducted weld qualification for welding of S30408 and Q345R materials; it is manual welding, and the welding material used is S309L. The procedures were followed as specified in the main text and Appendix D. Currently, there are heat exchange products that use S30408 pipes along with composite tube sheets (16MN+S30408), with the welding taking place between S30408 elements. S308 should be selected as the welding material. Follow Section 6.1.2.1(e) for base metal evaluation and Section 6.1.3 for filler metal evaluation. Appendix D Additional assessment of D.4. Under the same other conditions, it is currently understood that there is no need to conduct weld qualification for the same S30408 steel. Is there anything else I might have missed? Please help me take a look
Your understanding should be correct. If butt weld test pieces are used, attention must also be paid to the cover thickness.
This post was last edited by wanlirn on 2019-6-22 at 13:28. As long as there is no expansion joint, any thickness of butt joint will suffice; the requirements in Appendix D need not be considered. Also, since it’s a composite panel, it’s unusual that no expansion joint was designed into it
It has expansion fitting; it’s adhesive expansion, I didn’t express myself clearly. Meeting the requirements of Appendix D
