Thread Content
I. Introduction to 16MnDR: 16MnDR is a type of steel plate used for low-temperature pressure vessels; Production thickness: 8–80 mm, width: up to 4100 mm ; 16MnDR is a type of steel plate for low-temperature pressure vessels. 16Mn– indicates that the manganese content in the steel plate is approximately 0.16%, D– denotes low temperature, and R– refers to pressure vessels. (Under normal circumstances, when the content of a certain chemical element in steel is high, it needs to be indicated in the material specification; for example, 1.6% manganese is denoted as 16Mn. 16MnDR is used for steel plates intended for pressure vessels operating at -40 degrees Celsius.) Delivery condition of 16MnDR: normalizing + flaw detection at level 3 or above. II. Execution standards for 16MnDR: 1. The dimensions, shape, and allowable tolerances of the steel plates shall comply with the provisions of GB709. The packaging, labeling, and quality certificates of the steel plates shall comply with the relevant provisions of GB247. 2. Quality control level. The molten steel has a high degree of purity with extremely low impurity content, and its chemical composition complies with the latest standard for 16MnDR, namely GB 3531-2008 (implemented on December 1, 2009). III. Chemical composition of 16MnDR (weight percentage)/ %C: ≤0.20; Si: 0.15–0.50; Mn: 1.20–1.60; Al: ≥0.02; P: ≤0.025; S: ≤0.012.IV. Mechanical properties of 16MnDR:
For thicknesses of 6–16 mm, tensile strength Rm/Mpa (N/mm²): 490–620; yield strength ReL/Mp (N/mm²): 315; elongation A/%: 21; impact test temperature/°C: -40; impact energy KV2/J: 341.
For 80° bending tests, the bending diameter is as follows:
For thicknesses >16–36 mm, tensile strength Rm/Mpa (N/mm²): 470–600; yield strength ReL/Mp (N/mm²): 295; elongation A/%: 21; impact test temperature/°C: -40; impact energy KV2/J: 341.
For thicknesses >36–60 mm, tensile strength Rm/Mpa (N/mm²): 460–590; yield strength ReL/Mp (N/mm²): 285; elongation A/%: 21; impact test temperature/°C: -40; impact energy KV2/J: 341.
For thicknesses >60–100 mm, tensile strength Rm/Mpa (N/mm²): 450–580; yield strength ReL/Mp (N/mm²): 275; elongation A/%: 21; impact test temperature/°C: -40; impact energy KV2/J: 341.
For thicknesses >100–120 mm, tensile strength Rm/Mpa (N/mm²): 440–570; yield strength ReL/Mp (N/mm²): 265; elongation A/%: 21; impact test temperature/°C: -40; impact energy KV2/J: 341.
V. Ultrasonic testing for 16MnDR: For steel plates with a thickness greater than 20 mm, the supplier shall conduct ultrasonic testing on each plate. For plates with a thickness of 20 mm or less, the supplier may also carry out ultrasonic testing upon agreement between both parties. VI. Final rolling thickness for 16MnDR: The maximum final rolling thickness for new steel is 120 mm, and the same applies to Wugang steel; Wugang steel can also be rolled to a thickness exceeding 120 mm, but the performance will not be guaranteed.
