Regarding the \"Stability test of the roof of vertical circular welded fixed-roof steel storage tanks,\" GB50128-2014 states that \"for fixed-roof storage tanks that are not sealed, stability tests are not required if there are no specifications in the design documents.\" However, if such tests are required, it is unclear whether a negative pressure equal to 1.25 times the test pressure should be used, or whether the negative pressure resulting from draining the liquid to the lowest possible level should be employed, or some other value.
7.4.6 It is clearly stated that for the stability test of fixed-roof tanks, water should be filled to the design maximum level and then drained to carry out the test. During the test, the pressure should be reduced slowly; when the negative pressure specified for the test is reached, it is considered successful if there are no abnormalities at the top of the tank. Page 37, section 7.4.6 of GB50128 states clearly that for the stability test of fixed roofs, water should be filled to the designed maximum level and then the water should be drained to carry out the test. We have a water tank, and the manufacturer’s drawings do not provide for negative pressure
