Dear experts: What is the basis for distinguishing between metal pressure vessels and non-metallic pressure vessels? Does anyone have it? Please share it, thank you very much!
Thank you. There must be criteria for making the distinction; it cannot simply be based on the material or on the compressed components – there need to be underlying reasons and standards.
Take a look at the scope of application for non-metallic pressure vessels; Article 2 in Chapter 1, General Provisions, states this clearly
Thank you! I have a reboiler here; its shell is made of Q345R material, and its core is made of graphite. Should it be classified as a metal pressure vessel or a non-metal pressure vessel? According to normal pressure-bearing components, it should be a metal pressure vessel; however, the manufacturer’s documentation classifies it as a non-metallic pressure vessel. This doesn’t make sense. Please help!
Multi-chamber containers are classified according to the highest-grade chamber; is the flow side of your equipment also under pressure?

Just tell the owner like this! Generally, those involving non-metals are considered non-metallic pressure vessels, while those that are entirely made of metal are considered metallic pressure vessels. In fact, it depends on the circumstances; it is very likely that it will be considered both a metal container and a non-metal container, requiring compliance with standards from both categories.
