A stainless steel reactor in the plant is designed with a pressure range of atmospheric pressure to 0.33 MPa, and it is used for vacuum distillation – is this in compliance with the standards?
There is a concern that the structure may not be able to withstand this negative pressure; it is necessary to determine whether it will become unstable under such conditions. Special attention should be paid to the roundness of the cylinder, as high standards are required for its roundness when subjected to external pressure
Calculate whether it will become unstable under negative pressure; if it’s not a hazardous substance, then there’s no problem, but otherwise it needs to be treated as a pressure vessel
Calculate the length-to-diameter ratio and thickness; if the tank was designed normally in the past, it certainly wouldn’t work, as there is a large difference in thickness between positive and negative pressure conditions
Get the original drawings and have a pressure vessel engineer perform calculations using negative pressure. Negative pressure is mainly considered in terms of instability

It’s definitely non-compliant, but if the external pressure length isn’t long, there’s no issue with using negative pressure in terms of operation
