For pressure testing equipment and pipelines in construction projects, should hydraulic pressure or pneumatic pressure be used? What determines the choice?
Look at the medium being transported? For liquid substances, use water pressure ; For gaseous substances, use air pressure. For hydraulic systems, low-pressure gas can be used first to detect leaks, so as to prevent water from spreading everywhere.
Whenever relevant departments and units require pressure testing using water, such testing must be carried out as specified. Generally, equipment such as medium and high-pressure containers, pipes, and valves is subject to hydrostatic testing, as it is a very safe method. For those without special requirements, pressure testing with air can be used as long as safety is ensured.

Use as high a water pressure as possible, as it provides greater safety. If water restriction is required, only pneumatic pressure can be used! There are relevant standards!

The manufacturing process does not allow water to be present in the equipment’s pipelines. If water is used for pressure testing, it must be drained after the testing is completed, but it’s difficult to drain all the water completely; it’s likely necessary to dry the pipelines as well. This makes things quite troublesome. And if air pressure is used, it’s difficult to identify where there are leaks; there’s no such clarity as with water pressure
