As the title states, our company currently has a fixed tube sheet heat exchanger with tubes removed and the tube plate of the heat exchanger is being repaired. It is suspected that the tubes are leaking and I want to do a pressure test on a single tube. Is there any senior who has experience in this area and would like to provide guidance on how to design the pressure tooling? Are there any precautions? Thank you! ! !
Just conduct a shell-side hydraulic pressure test. You can see leaks in any pipe.
Because the tube sheet needs to be repaired (or even replaced), there is no point in conducting pipe tests before repair, so it was decided to dismantle the tubes first, repair the tube sheets, and then test the individual tubes for leaks before reinstalling them. If you repair the tube sheet and reinstall it, then do a leak test, you will have no choice but to plug the tube. Inspecting before installing will help improve heat exchange efficiency.

This is the first time I heard that can the heat exchange tube be reused after being removed? Unless the shell needs to be shortened.
It is indeed shortened by a section, and the thickness of the tube plate is no problem :)
