Hello, friends. I have a question: it concerns the water seal of the rotary diaphragm deaerator I’d like to ask the friends on this forum for advice. How is the water seal specification (length) for rotary film deaerators determined? The length of the water seal used in different deaerators varies; for 85T deaerators, it can be as close to 4 meters or a little over 2 meters. May I ask how this length is determined?
The function of a water seal is similar to that of a safety valve, and its height is related to the maximum pressure required by the container. If there is a difference in the water seals of the deaerators with the same processing capacity, then check whether the one with a higher water level is a single-stage water seal, while the one with a lower water level is a multi-stage water seal (composed of two or three single-stage water seals)
There aren’t any specific specifications for this. In the past, deaerators had clear standards: those operating under atmospheric pressure had a pressure of 0.02 MPa, while those operating under pressurized conditions had a pressure of 0.588 MPa. Now some designers are arbitrary in their choices; they use water seals for applications with low pressure, opting for single or multiple stages, and the size of these seals should not be too large.
As for the size, how long is it usually for an 85-ton deaerator?
I checked here, and it turns out that they are all 85-ton deaerators with a single-stage water seal; some of them are nearly 4 meters long, while others are only about 2 meters long.

It mainly depends on the maximum pressure you want to maintain inside the deaerator. If your operating pressure is 0.02 MPa as standard, then the differential pressure required for the water seal is also 0.02 MPa. During operation, the water seal ensures a pressure difference of 2 m; adding in the vertical and horizontal dimensions gives a total size of around 2400
