Currently, a floating-head heat exchanger is being designed with a tube side design pressure of 1.9 MPa, using carbon monoxide as the medium, a volume of 2 m³, and a diameter of DN700. According to HG/T20660-2017, CO is classified as a highly hazardous substance. In line with the relevant regulations and GB150 requirements, after passing the pressure test, pressure vessels whose medium is extremely or highly hazardous, or those for which even trace leaks are not permitted due to design considerations, must undergo a leakage test. There’s some confusion now regarding whether to conduct a leak test; waiting for answers from colleagues online.
How are the medium properties determined? This involves not only issues related to airtightness testing but also other design requirements
Leakage testing includes airtightness testing, ammonia leak detection, helium leak detection, and halogen leak detection.

If it is explicitly required now to conduct a airtightness test, why ask whether it needs to be done?
150 and the solubility regulations clearly state that media with extreme or high hazard levels must undergo leakage tests; such tests are definitely required.
I have been working in pressure vessel design for 8 years; in such cases, a leak test is necessary. According to the regulatory requirements, the toxicity classification shall be carried out in accordance with HG/T20660-2000; CO is classified as moderately toxic, but generally we set higher standards and conduct airtightness tests.
It should be done; if this isn’t carried out, other leakage tests need to be performed
