Are there standards of the HG and JB series, such as HG/T 21521-2014, that correspond to national standards? 2. Can the dimensional standards for manholes specified in China’s HG/T 21521-2014 be used to design ASME manholes? Seeking help from experts! !
ASME VIII-1 does not specify standard manholes, but they should be calculated as fittings. If an ASME stamp is required, the manhole flanges and blind flanges should also be standard ASME flanges; otherwise, calculations are necessary
ASME and its related standards do not provide specific requirements for manholes, supports, etc.; design them independently.
Thank you for your reply. I would like to ask which document is related to ASME standard flanges? It doesn’t seem to be in the ASME VIII-1 Code for Construction of Pressure Vessels? Do you know which document standard contains relevant regulations?

You can refer to domestic manhole standards for design, but calculations are required, including reinforcement for the openings in the manhole connections. If the manhole cover is not standard, a calculation report must be prepared. The strength of the welds connecting the manhole connections and the cover also needs to be checked – such as the welds between the handle and the cover, or the fillet welds between the support plate of the hinged cover and the reinforcement pipes. This information is available online; you can search for it.
There’s no problem with referring to the design; make sure to choose flanges that meet American standards.
