It depends on the medium flowing through the heat exchanger; if the medium is clean, the temperature and pressure are not too high, and there is no risk of scaling or corrosion, then it’s not necessary to replace the gaskets.
Have you removed the heat exchanger core for maintenance? If it is pulled out and the gasket moves, it needs to be replaced; moreover, it is a wound gasket.
