Hello, Sea Friends~! There is currently a flat-bottomed storage tank with a diameter of 2500 mm and a height of 6300 mm. The bottom plate has a flat structure with a thickness of 8 mm. Calculations show that no foundation bolts are required for this equipment, as it can remain stable on its own ; The client requires the installation of lifting lugs on the equipment. They want to use SP-type lugs, but are concerned that the thin bottom plate might deform during lifting (as there are no foot bolts and no reinforcing plates around the perimeter of the bottom plate). What is the best way to install lugs in this structure so as to prevent deformation of the bottom plate during lifting? Or should the bottom plate be reinforced structurally?

If only lifting during transportation or installation is considered, lifting lugs are generally not provided……
When installing, lifting considerations must definitely take the lifting lugs into account; otherwise, it will be difficult to lift it
Do you have the drawings for these temporary reinforcement bars? Could you send a picture for reference? I’ve never used this kind of temporary reinforcement plate before
No problem; I have experience with hanging them, and there’s no issue at all. For empty tanks, the bottom panel doesn’t need to be reinforced – I specialize in working with tanks
Are you performing vertical lifting, so that the equipment arrives at the site in an upright position? When it is transported to the site, it is in a horizontal position; when the equipment is lifted from a horizontal to a vertical position, the bottom plate is definitely subjected to stress
The tank isn’t very large, so I don’t think reinforcement is necessary; if you’re concerned, weld two angle irons to it.
There is no additional force applied when lifting the empty tank; how can the bottom plate deform?
