Is this heat exchanger a pressure vessel?
Pressure vessels must meet three conditions: 1. The pressure they are subjected to exceeds 0.1 MPa. 2. The diameter of the container is greater than 0.15 meters and its volume is greater than 0.025 cubic meters. 3. The medium contained is a gas, a liquefied gas, or a liquid whose maximum operating temperature exceeds its boiling point
You also need to know the shell side diameter and volume in order to determine it.
Whether a pressure vessel is subject to regulatory requirements depends on the shell side volume
Pressure vessels falling under the jurisdiction of the \"Fixed Capacity Regulations\" are those for which the operating pressure in the shell side is greater than 0.1, the medium involved is air and water vapor, the operating temperature ranges from 147 to 167 degrees Celsius, and the volume, calculated based on the heat exchange area, is well above 25 liters (with a heat exchange area of 31 square meters).
Pipelines are not counted. The medium in the shell side meets the requirements; next, check whether the volume and dimensions are 30L and 150mm respectively.
For Class I pressure vessels, the cylinder diameter also needs to be considered.
The design pressure of the tube side water does not reach the standard boiling point; the medium on the shell side is gas, with a working pressure greater than 0.1. The diameter and volume also meet the specified requirements – it is indeed a pressure vessel
Meeting the 150 requirement classifies it as a pressure vessel, while meeting TSG21 allows for classification accordingly……
