Principle: By adding crystalline particles of certain metal salts (such as copper salts, cobalt salts, etc.) to an aqueous solution of sodium silicate, it is possible to observe the gradual “growth” of dendritic structures within the solution. The incorporated crystalline particles gradually dissolve, releasing metal ions; these metal ions then combine with sodium silicate to form insoluble silicate crystals that deposit on top of the original crystalline particles.
