Dear seniors, can we eliminate the reinforcing ring on circular flat-head end caps and use reinforcements instead? What are the consequences of doing so?
It can be canceled – there are so many reinforced flat covers on the atmospheric-pressure vessels… However, those algorithms aren’t provided for 150; if it’s to be designed according to 150 standards, stress analysis is the only option for this area
For reinforced circles, it is possible to use SW6 for calculations, which allows the thickness of the flat cover to be reduced; however, the performance will be much worse when using ribbed plates, and the calculation method will differ in that case
Any of those methods will work, but it needs to be calculated based on certain conditions; it’s just a matter of whether it’s cost-effective or not

For those with only stiffening plates, refer to the standard for atmospheric pressure vessels
150 generally does not use reinforced structures; instead, the flat cover itself is used to meet the strength requirements
It doesn’t seem cost-effective now; the costs of welding and assembly need to be added, and they aren’t low at all
