As the title suggests: Is there a new standard to replace SH/T 3138-2003 \"Integral Reinforcement Flanges for Spherical Storage Tanks\"? Can it still be used?
Of course, this can be used; it is originally a recommended standard. It’s best to follow the calculations regarding how to reinforce it; after all, there is no standard product available that meets this standard.
Some experts suggest that the use of this standard is not recommended, but I personally think it can be used.
This standard is not referenced in 12337. Therefore, the dimensions of the flange specified in this standard can be used, but calculations must be performed and the drawings prepared separately. We conducted verification using the equal-area strengthening theory, and it was found that the flanges specified in SH/T 3138-2003 are reasonable; all of them can be analyzed using the equal-area strengthening principle.
