Q345R head joint, thickness 12mm; the equipment does not require overall post-weld heat treatment. Does process qualification only require normalizing?
When the deformation rate of the head does not exceed 150.4 as specified in point 8.1, no corresponding heat treatment is required
It depends on whether your end caps are formed by hot pressing or cold pressing. In the case of cold pressing, it is necessary to determine whether heat treatment to restore the material’s properties is required, based on GB 150.4–2011 \"Pressure Vessels – Part 4: Manufacturing, Inspection and Testing\", clause 8.1.1, by considering the extent of deformation of the fibers and the type of material used.
Was heat treatment performed on the head only, or wasn’t heat treatment applied to the entire equipment?
If it is used for a pressure vessel head that requires heat treatment, standard-sized equipment does not need it. The welding procedure qualification is determined based on the manufacturing process of the head manufacturer; it does not have to be normalizing – annealing may also be used
