I would like to ask what causes a loud roaring sound from the exhaust silencer

I recently ordered a vacuum pump exhaust silencer. The manufacturer claimed that it was designed based on flow rate, pressure, and temperature factors. However, after installation, there was a loud humming sound; it seemed as though the entire workshop was resonating. The manufacturer confirmed that the silencer had two stages of pressure reduction built into it, with injection holes having a diameter of 3 mm, and the opening area being 2 to 3 times that of the inlet area. The manufacturer said this met the design requirements, but the actual noise level was around 100 dB(a). Currently, the manufacturer doesn’t know what the problem is. With environmental inspections approaching, we plan to modify the silencer ourselves. I would appreciate any advice from experienced engineers. Thank you
Verify whether the data provided to the manufacturer is correct, and whether the flow rate has been converted to standard conditions flow rate.
Thank you for your reply. The flow rate is fine, but a certain amount of cooling water enters the silencer along with the air flow; I’m not sure if this is related to the issue
Try putting more sound-dampening foam; if that doesn’t work, isolate it. :lol
There’s liquid trapped inside; that must be the reason: lol
