I need help from experts: what welding tests are required for Hastelloy?
Welding of Hastelloy usually requires welders to possess specific welding skills and knowledge, which may include: 1. Material identification and understanding of properties: knowing the chemical composition of Hastelloy, the heat treatment processes, and the preparation of the material before welding. 2. Welding methods: Proficient in welding methods suitable for Hastelloy, such as TIG (tungsten inert gas welding), MIG (metal inert gas welding), and arc welding. 3. Welding parameter selection: Master the proper setting of welding parameters such as current, voltage, welding speed, and shielding gas. 4. Weld quality control: Capable of monitoring the quality of the welding process, including weld shape and the identification and prevention of welding defects. 5. Post-treatment knowledge: Understand the processes of post-weld heat treatment, cleaning, and inspection. If you are preparing to obtain a certification related to welding Hastelloy, it is also necessary to consult the specific examination syllabuses and standards, as different certification bodies or regions may have particular requirements for the assessments of welders. .
For projects requiring certification in the nickel and nickel alloy category in accordance with TSG Z6002, please refer to clause A4.3.2.3 on page 21
Does that mean that for the test, stainless steel base material can be used, and should stainless steel wire be used as well?
The base material can be stainless steel, but the welding rod or wire must be made of nickel alloy materials
So if the unit has an automatic TIG welding process, GTAW-1G (K)-07/09/19, can this process be used for welding nickel-based alloys?
It probably won’t work; although the exam uses stainless steel, the certificate issued after the exam is a NI-based welder’s certificate
This project should be applicable to the welding of nickel alloy projects; in practice, welding with nickel alloy wire will suffice. Similar to the submerged arc welding automatic welding tests, it can be applied to welding materials that can be welded by submerged arc welding, and the principle is the same.
But there is no metal category for the automatic welding project
I understand it the same way; the automatic welding processes should cover all cases, as long as the weld evaluation is conducted for the corresponding nickel-based materials
