1. If removal is necessary, appropriate safety measures must be in place. Moreover, no part of the body should be inserted into that area until the energy sources are shut off and locked out to prevent injury. 24 For equipment that moves in a horizontal straight line during inspection, the inspector must not stand on its path of movement, nor should any part of the body such as hands and feet be on that path. When inspecting equipment that moves vertically, inspectors must not touch such equipment; they should cut off its power supply, lock it out, and apply physical safeguards to prevent it from falling due to its own weight, before they can approach it. 26 When inspecting rotating equipment, inspectors must not wear gloves and should maintain a certain safety distance; they must under no circumstances come into contact with it. 27 When inspecting equipment inside the inspection pit, it is strictly prohibited to stick one’s body over the railing to look into the pit; if it is necessary to do so, fall prevention measures must be taken. 28 When inspecting equipment, be careful of burns from parts that become hot due to operation or extremely hot materials, such as the exhaust pipes of heating grills; protective gloves must be worn whenever touching these areas. 29 While complying with the safety operating procedures for this position, it is necessary to abide by the General Principles of Safety Operating Procedures.
