To overcome the challenges associated with the storage and transportation of cryogenic fluids such as liquid hydrogen and liquid nitrogen, at the beginning of 2022, the engineering company began working on the development of large-capacity ultra-cryogenic pressure vessels. These vessels come in two types: fixed storage tanks and mobile tank containers, and are capable of storing fluids at temperatures close to absolute zero. On December 17, China’s first large-capacity ultra-low temperature storage tank with a capacity of 120 cubic meters, independently developed by an engineering construction company, successfully passed the PED certification issued by Bureau Veritas in France. This achievement marks the overcoming of the barriers to large-scale storage of ultra-low temperature substances at -269 degrees Celsius in China, and it shows that China’s large-capacity ultra-low temperature pressure vessels meet the international standards for quality control. To date, the engineering construction company has applied for 19 patents related to ultra-low temperature pressure vessels, and established 9 industry standards and corporate standards in this area. A preliminary standard system for the design and manufacturing of ultra-low temperature pressure vessels has been put in place, providing strong support for the high-quality development of the domestic natural gas cryogenic industry. Currently, this storage tank is being tested and used at the construction site, and it has successfully achieved the storage of ultra-low temperature media.
