Technical requirements for the procurement of pressure vessel heads
Thread Content
This specification provides descriptions for the purchase of materials. These technical requirements specify the details for purchasing the following materials.1. 1. Item name: Product name
2:1 Ellipsoidal Head
2:1 Elliptical end cap
2. 2. Codes and standards: ASME Code, Section VIII, Division 1, 2015 – “2:1 Ellipsoidal Head”
3. Material specifications, size, and quantity:
Material grade: SA-516M Gr.485
Material condition: Hot-rolled
Size: I.D. 1200×14 mm
Quantity: 2 units
4. Material marking: The manufacturer shall stamp the following markings on the plate: **(Encoded marking)**
5. Supply conditions and dimensional tolerances: Hot forming is allowed for the end caps. 5.2 If hot forming is used, proceed in accordance with the following requirements: Hot forming of end caps shall be carried out as follows: 5.2.1 Die forming: Molding using dies. 5.2.2 Forming temperature: 920±20℃. Holding time: 12–20 minutes. Cooling method: Cooling in air. 5.2.3 Test plate for end caps: MATERIAL PURCHASE SPECIFICATIONS. Document number: MPS16-001, Revision 0. Page 3 of 4. Dimensions of the test plate: 14x60x500 mm. Quantity required: 1 piece. The material must meet the requirements regarding lateral tensile strength, with the tensile direction being perpendicular to the rolling direction; the eligibility criteria are defined by the relevant material standards. 5.3 Dimensional tolerance See the following drawing: Dimensions tolerances are shown in the figure below. 5.3.1 The inner surface of the elliptical head shall not deviate more than 15 mm outside the specified shape, nor more than 7.5 mm inside it. Such deviations shall be measured perpendicularly to the specified shape and shall not be sudden. The inner surface of the elliptical head shall not bulge by more than 15 mm, nor recess by more than 7.5 mm. A template should be used perpendicular to the surface being tested during inspection. 5.3.2 Measurements to determine the deviations specified in 5.2.1 above shall be taken from the surface of the base metal and not from welds. When carrying out the measurements specified in 5.3.1, welds should be avoided. 5.4 The markings on the plate shall be located on the convex surface of the heads after formation. After the head is formed, the markings on the steel plate should be on the convex side of the head. 6 Product Exam. Report – Product Inspection Report
The Product Inspection Report shall be provided to ** in a bilingual Chinese-English format and using SI units. It should be presented in both Chinese and English, along with SI units. The following items must be included in the report:
6.1 Applicable Code: Relevant standards – ASME Code, Section VIII, Division 1, 2015
6.2 Purchase specification No. and Rev. No.: Number and version of the material procurement specifications. DOC. NO.: ** REV. 0 PAGE 4 OF 4
6.3 Job No.: Work order number: **
6.4 Material specification and grade: Brand and grade of the material
6.5 Code marking of ****: Code marking related to ****
6.6 Time-Temperature Chart: Time-temperature diagram
6.7 Examination results (including the minimum wall thickness and tolerances after forming): Results of the inspection, including the minimum wall thickness and tolerances after the material is formed
6.8 Manufacturer’s name or trade mark: Name or trademark of the manufacturer
7 Identification of ellipsoidal head: Identification of the elliptical head
An identification mark shall be painted or stamped on each finished head, about 200 mm away from the edge of the skirt, and it shall include the manufacturer’s name or trademark. The identification mark (manufacturer’s name or trademark) should be painted or stamped on the outer surface of each completed head, at a distance of approximately 200 mm from the edge of the head’s straight sides.
