The picture I saw on the WeChat official account said it was a baffle rod heat exchanger, but why are there baffles inside?
The heat exchanger tube bundle must have baffles. Baffles have the functions of supporting, improving surge flow, prolonging the process, etc.
This is a mixture of baffle rods and baffles. I’ve never seen this before.
Why add the deflector rod? The unsupported span is not large and is completely unnecessary. To correct a concept, baffle rod heat exchangers do not require baffles. The deflector rod acts as a flow spoiler.
This is not a baffled rod heat exchanger at all. The baffled rod heat exchanger is a set of 4, and each group of rods is alternately arranged in a tic-shaped shape. The rods in the picture are all in one direction, and the adjacent ones do not alternate. The rods in the picture are in each gap, so this rod only serves to fix the tube bundle and reduce vibration. The advantage of this setting is that it does not affect the original baffle spacing and the pressure drop loss does not change
Therefore, the process design of this equipment is not very good. Why is there such a large tendency to vibrate? When the distance between the baffles is not large, rods are required to be fixed.
I don’t think so. Excessive induced vibration can be reduced by using reasonable methods, which is also good in itself.
It is right to adopt a reasonable method. What I question is that the method in the picture is unreasonable. First of all, I think other ways can be used to avoid vibration, and there is no need to add support rods. Secondly, you can see from the picture that this kind of support rod is very thin, and the rod and the tube are in point contact. If the induced vibration is large, it is not necessarily a good thing to adopt this method, and it may reduce the life of the equipment. In a real baffled rod heat exchanger, the material is swept across the baffled rod, and the heat exchange tube is consistent with the flow direction. The heat exchange tubes are obviously swept horizontally in the picture. The essence is different.
According to the analysis above, this really shouldn't be considered a baffle rod heat exchanger.
