In a certain petrochemical plant, the circulating water cooler (with circulating water in the tube side) was not put into use for a long time after pressure testing was completed – for over a year. Recent inspections revealed water leakage at the flange at the shell side outlet; I suspect this is related to the quality of the circulating water (which has always been poor). I would like to ask the experts: after pressurizing a circulating water cooler, is it necessary to feed circulating water into it if it isn’t used for an extended period of time?
From the perspective of energy saving and equipment protection, not using circulating water makes nitrogen sealing an excellent solution!
Medium drained, protected by inert gas
If not needed, please empty the blower and seal it with nitrogen; otherwise it will rust (of course, you can also open it for use, which would be a waste of resources)
