I have a question: for a vertical heat exchanger with a diameter of 900, a heat exchange tube length of 6000, and heat exchange tubes of specification 38*2, where the fluid on the tube side is steam condensate and the fluid on the shell side is cooling water, it is possible to omit the support plates if flow disruption is not a concern. If support plates are used, how should they be arranged in order to minimize resistance and pressure drop as much as possible?
For the vertical version, the lack of support plates seems to have little impact; however, it is possible to consider reducing the number of support plates to prevent vibrations.
This was designed by a foreigner; there are no details regarding the processing parameters, and it’s also impossible to communicate with them. So let’s see what good ideas everyone has

Whether it was designed by a foreigner or a local, there must be some basis for the design. The simplest and most reliable approach is to look up the standards yourself :)
Without baffle plates, won’t the vibration be severe?
Since the original design documents cannot be found, there are recommended values for the spacing between 151 pairs of support plates; you can refer to those. Even if it’s not a full set of support plates, 1/2 or 1/4 will also work :)
If it’s 6 meters. One piece is not enough; the maximum unsupported span is a little over 2 meters, and this must be ensured. At least 2 pieces are required. Or other types of baffle plates could be used; I’m not sure if baffle grids would work. But the diameter is likely to increase
