What do the ABCDE at the end of the HTRI output report mean?
ABCDEF represent the flow paths in different areas; please refer to relevant materials for details
I’m not very familiar with flow path analysis; could anyone who knows explain it?
The proportion of flow in each stream in the shell side: the proportion for stream B is slightly lower in the graph
Flow path ratio, the flow path on the baffle side. Some ratios need to be controlled
Flow path A – the leakage flow path between the baffle tube holes and the tubes, with the fluid flow direction parallel to the axis of the tube bundle; Flow path B – a transverse (cross-flow) flow path perpendicular to the tube bundle, with the flow direction being vertical to the axis of the tube bundle ; C-flow path — the bypass flow path between the outer periphery of the tube bundle and the inner wall of the shell; this path occupies the spiral-shaped channel defined between two adjacent baffle notches. In heat exchangers with detachable tube bundles, especially floating-head heat exchangers, the flow area of this passage can be very large. E-flow path — the leakage flow path between the outer edge of the baffle and the inner wall of the shell, with the fluid flow direction parallel to the axis of the tube bundle. The F flow path – it is a cross-flow path formed in the shell side due to the absence of tubes at the partition between the tube side and the shell side (this path does not exist in single-pass heat exchangers); this path lies in a plane parallel to that of the B flow path.
