Heat exchanger type

One shell-and-tube heat exchanger that we purchased has the model designation AEW indicated on the supplier’s data sheet; however, after searching online for a long time, we were unable to figure out what this model actually means. Could some expert please tell me?
Search for GB/T151-2014 online and then look at page 15 of this book. A – The front-end tube box is of the flat-cover type; E – It is a single-pass shell; W – The rear end is of the floating head type with a glanded packing box.
That’s right; this format exists in GB/T151-2014, but I have never worked with it nor seen heat exchangers of this type before.
All the answers above are correct. The single-pass type with ring packing in flat shell and tube exchangers, as well as floating head exchangers, are relatively rare
Additional note: Type A tube box with a removable tube box cover for easy maintenance. W rear end, stuffing box type. AEW is commonly used in oil coolers, and can also be applied in other applications where the temperature and pressure are not high and where tube bundle core pulling is possible.
