Do any of you experts have any information on the design of baffle rods, such as aspects related to size and material selection?
Also, the spacing between heat exchange tubes and the center distance are probably not the same thing, right?
A baffle rod heat exchanger is basically identical to a conventional baffle plate heat exchanger in every aspect except for the baffle (rod) component; the tube arrangement is usually square. The material selection depends on the materials used for the heat exchange tubes and the shell, and it’s no different from choosing the material for the baffle plates. The medium round steel and the baffle rings should be made of the same material. There are generally 4 different configurations for the baffle rings, with the main difference lying in the arrangement of the medium round steel; one can simply follow a diagram of a baffle rod to construct it. As for the center distance between the heat exchange tubes, it can be determined according to GB151. Are you referring to the center distance between adjacent tubes and the center distance between the heat exchange tubes on both sides of the partition groove?
Big brother. I solved this problem. Now it’s time for the tube sheet and flanges. I have a shell with an inner diameter of 900. How should I choose the tube sheet? I don’t see any tube sheets with a nominal diameter of 900. How should I select the flanges, including the material? My design is for heat exchange between semi-water gas and shift gas.
According to GB/T151, it is necessary to ensure that the pipe layout is square; regular triangles are not allowed, as this will prevent the baffle rods from fitting in. Additionally, the direction of the baffle rods in different layers should differ by 90 degrees
Wasn’t the material specified when I gave you the data sheet or engineering drawings? It’s usually determined by the upstream specialty; I’m not very familiar with material selection either. As for the equipment flanges and tube sheets, you can select standard flanges according to the pressure on the side with higher pressure, following the relevant flange standards; or you can input the flange data into a program for verification. As for the tube sheets, it depends on what type of heat exchanger you have
Once the baffle rods are in place, the rest can be designed just like in a conventional heat exchanger, right?
I would like to ask how to determine the maximum unsupported span for a baffle rod heat exchanger?
