The exhaust and drain ports located on the heat exchanger tube box and floating head cover are generally of G1/2 size and come in the form of threaded plugs. I don’t think this design is necessary; it also creates safety hazards. High-temperature heat exchangers are prone to leaks at their sealing points. What do other professionals think? I welcome your insights
The vent and drain ports on the heat exchanger are designed primarily to remove air and non-condensable gases that may accumulate within the tube sheet and floating head cover during startup or operation, thereby improving heat transfer efficiency and preventing abnormal increases in internal pressure. It is designed in the form of a G1/2 threaded plug because this specification is quite common, making maintenance and replacement easier. There is indeed a risk of leakage at the sealing points, but this can usually be reduced by using appropriate sealing materials and enhancing the design. If properly operated and maintained, the safety risks of this design are controllable. If the risk of leakage is indeed high, consider using welded exhaust and drain ports, or opt for more reliable sealing methods to reduce the likelihood of leakage. .
Because normal import and export pipelines are equipped with vent ports and drain valves, and after checking the relevant standards, such elements are indeed present; however, personally I think they can be removed. Thank you all for your responses.
