New Year’s message to fellow netizens: The tumultuous year of 2020 is coming to an end. Looking ahead to this year, the pandemic has been by far the most shocking event and disaster worldwide; it has also represented a year of unprecedented scale in human history, affecting everyone on Earth without exception. Secondly, there is a rise in **ideologism, unilateralism, and trade protectionism; in particular, there is rampant use of technological blockades and coercive measures. Nevertheless, our country has been the most successful in bringing this plague under control; it is also the only one to achieve positive economic growth, with achievements that have attracted worldwide attention. As an ordinary worker in the chemical industry, what is most evident to me is the importance of technology, and this feeling will only become stronger as time goes by. Being inferior in skill and at the mercy of others was the most profound feeling in 2020. Put in the simplest everyday language, it means \"if you have the ability, you can enjoy the benefits; if not, you’ll suffer the consequences.\" The world is progressing and technology is advancing; keeping up with the times should be the basic principle for those working in the chemical industry. I will, together with my fellow sailors, work diligently to contribute our part to the advancement of our technology. Time waits for no one; abandon illusions and focus on technological infrastructure development – technological progress is the lifeline for every chemical company and its employees.
