The fixed tube sheet heat exchanger is a type of shell and tube heat exchanger. In a fixed-tube-sheet heat exchanger, the tube sheets at both ends are connected to the shell by welding; it is mainly composed of components such as the outer shell, tube sheets, tube bundle, and top cover (head). The advantages of the fixed tube sheet heat exchanger are: ◆ Simple structure ； ◆ Within the same shell diameter, the maximum number of tubes is achieved with the minimum number of bypasses ； ◆ Each heat exchange tube can be replaced, and cleaning inside the tubes is convenient. The disadvantages of the fixed tube sheet heat exchanger are: ◆ The shell side cannot be mechanically cleaned ； ◆ When the temperature difference between the heat exchange tubes and the shell is large (greater than 50°C), thermal stress is generated. The solution is to install expansion joints on the shell; as a result, the pressure in the shell side cannot be too high due to the strength limitations of these expansion joints ； ◆ It is only suitable for applications involving fluid cleaning where scaling is unlikely to occur, and in situations where the temperature difference between the two streams is small, or although the temperature difference is large the pressure in the shell side is not high.
