The circulating water temperature is 32°C, the inlet water temperature is 45°C, and the flow rate is 17 cubic meters per hour. To reduce the temperature to 38°C, what size of heat exchanger and what flow rate for the circulating water are required? Could someone expert help calculate this?
This can be designed from start to finish, generating piping diagrams and calculation reports.
There’s no need for such complexity; can we estimate the heat exchange area approximately?
This post was last edited by wiseboy on 2022-12-2 at 11:25; one area is different from the other. An area without structure is meaningless. I’ll tell you 3 areas: 28 square meters, 32 square meters, and 48 square meters. Corresponds to 3 structural dimensions. The length L of the heat exchanger and the shell diameter D determine its shape. Any requirements regarding length? Slender heat exchangers have a small surface area, but they take up too much space ; Heat exchangers with an attractive L:D ratio are good-looking, take up less space, but require a large area and are expensive.
Different heat exchangers have varying heat transfer efficiencies, as well as differences in heat transfer area, floor space required, and material usage. Even for shell-and-tube heat exchangers, whether the flow is co-current, counter-current, or cross-flow, and whether fins are present or not, the heat exchange efficiency will vary; the appropriate type must be selected based on the specific process requirements. Your condition is not sufficient for a judgment.
A plate heat exchanger is the most suitable option; 10 square meters is sufficient, with a water flow ratio of 1:1
Find a manufacturer of heat exchangers to handle the selection process specifically
Choose a plate heat exchanger with a surface area of 8 m2; 23.8 tons/h of cooling water is required, with the water inlet at 32 degrees and the outlet at 37 degrees. DN80 piping is sufficient for the cooling water. Heat load 138kw
For this temperature and flow rate, a plate heat exchanger is the best choice, and its price is quite low:D:D:D
