Dear colleagues, I am working on a project that involves the evaporation and concentration of 8% dilute sulfuric acid. Could the MVR method be used to address this issue? I can reach out to manufacturers that produce MVRs.
MVR is generally not suitable for the direct concentration of dilute sulfuric acid, as sulfuric acid is highly corrosive, has a low vapor pressure, and imposes strict requirements on the material used for equipment, which can easily lead to corrosion and damage of such equipment. Typically, the concentration of dilute sulfuric acid is carried out using multi-effect evaporation with corrosion-resistant materials or other special processes. If MVR must be used, special consideration should be given to the material of the equipment, its corrosion resistance, and cost-effectiveness; it is recommended to consult professional manufacturers in detail for confirmation. .
According to the MVR manufacturers, it can be used to concentrate sulfuric acid, but I have not used it.
