One of the most common faults when belt conveyor equipment is in operation is belt deviation. There are various reasons for deviation, with the main ones being low installation accuracy and poor routine maintenance. During installation, the head and tail rollers as well as the intermediate idlers should be as much as possible on the same center line and parallel to each other, to ensure that the conveyor belt does not deviate or deviates minimally. Additionally, the mesh belt joints must be correct, with equal perimeters on both sides. During use, if deviation occurs, the following checks should be carried out to determine the cause and make adjustments. Common areas to check and treatment methods when the conveyor belt deviates from its path include: I. Preventive measures against belt deviation (1) Improve the quality of belt installation (2) Improve the quality of joints in the conveyor belt ; (3) Strengthen regular inspections and maintenance of the conveyor belt. (4) Ensure that the load on the conveyor belt is evenly distributed ; (5) Ensure the conveyor belt cleaning device is in good working condition. II. Methods for adjusting belt deviation (1) Automatic idler roller adjustment: When the degree of belt deviation is not significant, an aligning idler roller can be installed at the location where the belt is deviating. (2) Adjust the tension appropriately: When the conveyor belt deviates to the left or right and its direction is unstable, it indicates that the belt is too loose; the tensioning device can be adjusted accordingly to eliminate the deviation. (3) Single-sided vertical roller alignment: If the conveyor belt keeps drifting to one side, several vertical rollers can be installed within that area to reset the belt. (4) Adjust the drum for alignment: If the conveyor belt deviates at the drum, check whether the drum is abnormal or moving improperly; adjust the drum to a horizontal position so that it can rotate properly, thereby eliminating the deviation. (5) Correct the alignment of the joints in the conveyor belt ; The deviation of the conveyor belt always occurs in one direction, with the maximum deviation occurring at the joints; this deviation can be corrected by ensuring that the joints of the conveyor belt are perpendicular to its center line. (6) Raising the idler rollers to correct deviation: When the conveyor belt deviates in a certain direction by a certain distance, several sets of idler rollers can be raised on the opposite side of the direction of deviation to eliminate this deviation. (7) Adjusting the idler alignment: If the conveyor belt deviates in a consistent direction, and it is found that the center line of the idler is not perpendicular to the center line of the conveyor belt, then the idler can be adjusted to eliminate the deviation. (8) Eliminating attachments: If the deviation point of the conveyor belt remains unchanged, and it is found that there are attachments stuck to the idler rollers or drive rollers, these attachments must be removed in order to eliminate the deviation. (9) Correcting feed deviation: The conveyor belt does not deviate under light load, but it does deviate under heavy load; the feed weight and position can be adjusted to eliminate this deviation.
