It’s normal for machinery to experience some issues while in use; after all, people can get colds and fevers too. Especially when the usage method is incorrect or when overuse occurs, various malfunctions tend to arise. There are also some machines that are so old that they need to be replaced. Below, we will explain why breakage of the shaft can occur in power rollers. Reason one: The drive drum is used to check whether the high-speed shaft is concentric; if it is not, the reducer shaft will operate under excessive load, which can lead to shaft breakage. The solution is to increase the bending moment on the shaft; during installation, it is necessary to check all these aspects carefully and adjust the positions of the components so that the high-speed shaft and the motor shaft are in a concentric position. Just as with a machine that has just been maintained, it is necessary to check again whether everything is aligned concentrically. The drive rollers must be installed or repaired in accordance with the specified requirements; this helps to reduce problems, save costs, and lower expenses. Reason two: Is the design of the drive drum mechanism itself unsound? For example, if the design strength of the high-speed shaft is low and it cannot withstand the required stress, the shaft of the drive drum may break during use. Therefore, when purchasing, it is necessary to know one’s own usage requirements and buy the appropriate model and type of power roller for production use. For example, the area outside the shoulder of the drive drum shaft often breaks; the transition radius at this location is very prone to damage. If this transition radius is small, the shaft will break quickly during use. When purchasing a power roller, check whether this part is secure and whether the power roller meets your usage requirements. Many subtle details need to be taken into account in order to prevent the shaft of the drive drum from breaking. Reason three: In the case of dual motors, it is common for the shaft of the drive roller to break, and this is also a major cause of such failures. The margin allowed for design is very small, which makes it easy for the shaft of the drive roller to break. Also, if the operation is incorrect, causing the load on the drive roller to exceed its capacity, or if it is used for too long under excessive load, this can also be a factor leading to the breakage of the drive roller’s shaft. Of course, there are other reasons for the breakage of the shaft in the drive roller; the three mentioned above are the most common. If the shaft of the drive roller breaks, inspections and repairs can be carried out by focusing on these three aspects.
