The bearings of roller conveyor equipment are precision components; improper use will prevent them from delivering the expected high performance. The precautions for using bearings are as follows: (1) When using a roller conveyor, avoid subjecting the bearings to severe impacts, as this can cause scratches and dents that may lead to accidents. In severe cases, cracks and fractures may occur. (2) Keep the roller bearings of the roller conveyor and the area around them clean; ensure that the surroundings of the rollers are tidy to prevent dust from entering the bearings. (3) Pay attention to rust on the bearings of the roller conveyor; sweat from the hands can cause rust when handling the bearings. Make sure to use clean hands; it’s best to wear gloves. (4) Appropriate operating tools must be used, and existing tools should not be used as substitutes. (5) Users should be familiar with the bearings of roller conveyors, regularly replenish lubricants, and establish operating procedures for bearing use. II. Causes of bearing failures and malfunctions in roller conveyors Due to the varying structures and uses of the rolling bearings in roller conveyors, the reasons for their failure are diverse. These mainly include: poor assembly, inadequate lubrication, overload, impact, vibration, intrusion of abrasive or harmful liquids, excessively high or low ambient temperatures, material defects, low manufacturing precision, and the effect of stray currents. Due to the complexity of working conditions, two or more failure mechanisms may act simultaneously; in some cases this manifests as a single form of failure, while in other cases it presents as a combination of multiple failure forms. III. Precautions before installing the bearings of a roller conveyor (1) Preparation of the roller conveyor bearings: Since the bearings of a roller conveyor are treated to prevent rusting and packaged, the packaging should not be opened until just before installation. Additionally, the rust-proof oil applied to the roller bearings of roller conveyors has excellent lubricating properties; for bearings used for general purposes or those filled with grease, they can be used without being cleaned first. However, such bearings are prone to rusting and should not be left unused for long periods of time. (2) Inspection and cleaning of the roller conveyor shaft and housing: Inspect the shaft and housing to ensure there are no scratches or burrs left from machining. There must be absolutely no grinding, molding sand, chips, etc., inside the shell. Next, check whether the dimensions, shape, and machining quality of the roller conveyor shafts and shaft housings conform to the drawings.
