Mold temperature controllers are a general term for temperature control devices; their full name is mold temperature control machines. These devices can both raise and lower temperatures. By using heat transfer oil with high thermal conductivity as the heating medium, it is possible to raise the temperature of the mold to the level required for production in a short amount of time. To ensure that the mold temperature controller operates more effectively and maintains its lifespan for a longer period, it is necessary to follow the relevant standards strictly during use. Below, our editor, who has many years of experience with mold temperature controllers, will explain in detail how to use such devices as well as the steps required for their adjustment. To use a mold temperature controller, it is first necessary to select an appropriate location for it before installing it; this location should be far away from flammable and explosive materials to ensure safe operation. The mold temperature controller must be installed on a horizontal surface, with sufficient space reserved for operation and maintenance purposes. The mold temperature controller should not be placed too close to the equipment that is heated. There are flanges for oil inlet and outlet at the top of the mold temperature controller, and stop valves of the appropriate type should be installed on these inlets and outlets. The pipes connecting the equipment that is heated to the mold temperature controller must be connected according to the pipe layout diagram on the left side of the electrical box ; The sealing surface of the flange must be sealed using a metal wound gasket. After the pipelines are connected, oil should be added and the system tested to ensure that there are no leaks at any of the connection welds; furthermore, insulation should be applied to the connected pipelines. After the mold temperature controller is installed, it is necessary to fill the system with a heat transfer medium. The circulation pump should be started while filling the system with this medium; however, there is no need to raise the temperature at this stage. The temperature should only be increased after the system is fully filled with the heat transfer medium. It is important to check whether the level control function of the mold temperature controller is working properly. The level sensor should be taken out of the oil tank, with the side containing the sensor facing upward, then the circulation pump should be started, and finally the part of the level sensor that is above should be raised. If there is no alarm, the sensor head on the level detector should be removed, its orientation changed, and testing should be conducted again. If the mold temperature controller still does not emit an alarm, it indicates that there is a problem with either the sensor or the control circuit. If an alarm signal is emitted, it means that the level detector is functioning properly. Once all these checks have been completed, the system can operate normally. Now that we know how to use and install a mold temperature controller, what are the steps for tuning it? First, connect the three-phase 380V power cables of the temperature control unit to its circuit breaker. There are also specific requirements regarding the order of the three live wires; their arrangement must be the same as that of the three live wires on the circuit breaker. Otherwise, the mold temperature controller will give a reverse alarm. If the mold temperature controller gives an inverse alarm, all that is needed is to turn off the main power supply and swap any two of the three live wires connected to the circuit breaker. When pouring oil into the mold temperature controller, it is necessary at first to add the heat transfer oil to a level about 3 centimeters below the maximum level, then turn on the power switch and start the pump so that the heat transfer oil fills the equipment as well as the customer’s mold. If the mold temperature controller emits a media deficiency alarm, heat transfer oil must be added continuously until no such alarm is issued. The mold temperature controller should have no malfunction alerts; it is advisable to keep the level of the heat transfer oil two centimeters below its maximum level, so that there is enough room for expansion of the oil at high temperatures. After filling the heat transfer oil in the mold temperature controller, there is no need to rush to increase the temperature. First, check whether the pressure indicated by the pressure gauge of the mold temperature controller is stable. To determine stability of pressure, observe whether the pointer of the gauge moves up and down; if the pressure is unstable, set the exhaust function of the controller to automatic exhaust mode, do not apply heat, and let the pump operate to remove air until the pressure stabilizes. Once the pressure of the mold temperature controller is stable, use the ∧∨ buttons on its temperature control panel to adjust the temperature. First, raise the temperature to 80 degrees, then keep the pump running and check whether the pressure remains stable; only if the pressure is stable can the temperature be increased by another 10 degrees. If the pressure is unstable, run the pump and continue to vent until the pressure stabilizes, then heat it up. Follow the above method to raise the temperature to 100 degrees; if the pressure remains stable, it can be increased by 20 degrees at a time until the desired temperature is reached. During this process, it is important to monitor the pressure. If heating continues without ensuring stability in pressure, and the water contained in the heat transfer oil has not evaporated, the oil may spray out, and the high temperature of the heat transfer oil can pose a risk of burns. If the heat transfer oil sprays out during the debugging process, it is necessary to immediately stop heating and shut down the mold temperature controller to allow the oil to continue spraying. After that, restart the mold temperature controller and set the temperature to 100 degrees; monitor the pressure, and once it stabilizes, increase the temperature gradually by 5 degrees at a time. After completing the calibration of the mold temperature controller by following these steps, it can be used normally. No further calibration is required each time it is turned on; simply raising the temperature is sufficient. However, after replacing the heat transfer oil or performing maintenance on the equipment, it is necessary to go through these steps again for a brief calibration.
